Tara D. Hatcher focuses her practice solely on family law. As a former prosecutor and attorney for the Department of Social Services, Tara has successfully tried hundreds of cases involving domestic abuse, both physical and emotional, and neglect. She regularly appears before the judges throughout Chesterfield, Powhatan, Amelia, Cumberland, and Dinwiddie for a variety of legal matters on behalf of her clients.
While Tara is no stranger the courtroom and enjoys her trial work, she also offers mediation services. Tara is certified through Ambassadors of Reconciliation in both faith-based conflict coaching and mediation. She is committed to helping her clients decide if mediation or litigation is the best trajectory for their family law case.
Prior to forming Hatcher & Baez, Tara worked for many years at her own law firm.
Tara earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law with honors in 2001. Tara also graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1996, where she studied English. After law school, Tara also worked as an attorney for the Supreme Court of Virginia. She is the former President of the Powhatan County Bar Association, and is still highly involved in that organization.
In her spare time, Tara enjoys visiting the beach and attending concerts. She is active in her church, Bon Air Baptist Church. Tara and her two children reside in Midlothian
